Water Leaked into My Tiled Florida Room. How Do I Know There is No Lasting Damage?

Our SERVPRO Technicians in Largo Mitigate Water Damage with Rapid Extraction

Moisture and humidity are an uncomfortable part of living in Largo. Anything that adds excess moisture is undesirable. For instance, water leaking into your Florida room from your kitchen adds to already-high humidity levels. If left too long, excess moisture may attract insects or foster difficult-to-remove mold growth. Detecting, drying, and removing the moisture right away is crucial to the timely repair of your home.

How Did Water Get Under the Tiles?

SERVPRO Inspects to Detect Hidden Moisture

There are always unique obstacles to water restoration projects in Largo, each requiring customized solutions. For instance, our technicians may find water under the tiles when using moisture detection equipment during their preliminary damage scope. Typically, moisture can appear under flooring when there is pre-existing damage like cracks in the tiles themselves or damaged grouting. If moisture goes undetected under the tiles, you may face more extensive damage like the tiles lifting.

What Equipment Does SERVPRO Use to Remove the Excess Moisture?

  • To dry hidden areas in hard-surfaced flooring, technicians may use Injectidry equipment by the trim work and lower walls.
  • A combination of panels and hosing make up our Injectidry system that pulls excess moisture from the tiles.
  • Technicians use low-profile air moving equipment such as the Velo™ Air Mover in conjunction with a dehumidifier that pulls moisture from the air while blowing warm air over the tiles to dry them.

What Makes Low-Profile Air Movers Different from Regular Box Fans?

  • Velo™ air movers feature high-velocity air movement while only drawing 1.9 amps.
  • They have broad airflow that covers a larger surface area, allowing for uniform drying across your tile flooring.
  • Technicians can position them both horizontally and vertically for optimal drying.

What Should I Do if My Dishwasher in Largo Leaks and Water Gets Behind My Kitchen Cabinets?

For Water Mitigation Inside Your Kitchen in Largo, Call SERVPRO

Any appliance inside your Largo home that has water running to it is susceptible to malfunctioning and leaking out moisture. For instance, your dishwasher could develop a break in one of its hoses or leak from the machine itself, causing H2O to enter your kitchen.

How can you tell if my kitchen cabinets got wet or if there is moisture underneath them?

During water mitigation inside your Largo kitchen, our SERVPRO technicians can use a non-penetrating moisture meter to detect the presence of moisture in, behind, and underneath your cabinets. Most kitchen cabinets are made with either laminated MDF, solid or engineered wood. Engineered cabinets are similar to solid wood cabinets, but they are made by pressing thin pieces of wood together and then laminating the surface. MDF also has a laminated layer on each side of the material.

Can you restore my cabinets once they get wet?

When dealing with solid wood cabinets, most of the time, they are restorable. Engineered wooden cabinets, though, may delaminate, which can ruin them. Laminate cabinets can also swell and delaminate, making them unrestorable. However, in many cases, we can dry out your cabinets before any swelling or delamination takes place.

How can you dry out my cabinets?

Air Movers- We can set up air movers to create an air circulation that can speed up the natural evaporation process. If possible, we can remove the bottom part of your cabinets so that the air can get pushed underneath them.

  • Dehumidifiers- These machines can speed up drying and evaporation by removing moisture from the atmosphere.
  • Injection Drying- In some cases, the baseboard can be removed from the bottom of your cabinets, and holes can get drilled so that an injection drying system can pump air into the bottom cavity of your cabinets.

If you ever notice that your kitchen floor got wet after your dishwasher leaked, call SERVPRO of Largo at (727) 586-0060.

Top Reasons that Require Water Removal in Your Clearwater Home

Home in water Don't let water take over your home. Call in the experts at SERVPRO right away after a water incident.

Count on SERVPRO for Water Damage Restoration to Your Property

It may be called the "Sunshine State," but Florida sees its fair amount of water damage to property every year. It is more important than ever to understand and prevent water damage from occurring on your property.

Common Causes of Water Damage

To prevent water damage and the need for Clearwater water removal services, you should know where and how water damage typically starts - and it is not from hurricanes. Here are the most common causes of water damage to watch out for in your home:

Burst or Leaking Pipes

"Out of sight, out of mind," right? Our pipes hide behind walls, and we hardly ever think about them, even when we turn on the tap. If something goes wrong, however, it could spell disaster for your property. The most common causes of burst or leaking pipes are drastic changes in temperature, clogged lines, and wear and tear through age. At SERVPRO, we recommend having your pipes inspected from time to time and if a burst or leak does occur, call us immediately.

Appliance Malfunctions

When a washing machine or dishwasher malfunctions, it can cause a severe amount of water damage by flooding the walls and seeping under the floorboards. The best way to prevent this from happening is to keep up with the maintenance of appliances and replace old, worn appliances with new ones when necessary.

Air Conditioners

Staying cool in Florida is a must on hot, humid days. However, HVAC systems are at risk of causing water damage to your property. This is because, in Florida, the lines that are responsible for transporting and disposing of collected water can get clogged with algae. The result is a backup that can cause a leak or spill resulting in water damage. For this reason, it is essential to maintain the efficiency of an HVAC system and call us at SERVPRO at the first sign of water damage.

Attics and Crawl Spaces

Another common cause of water damage includes the spaces where water is more apt to accumulate. Attics and crawl spaces are all areas where water damage and mold growth can go unnoticed for quite some time.

If you have a problem with water, contact SERVPRO of Largo 24/7 at (727) 586-0060 for a speedy response.

Preventing Water Damage While You Are Away from Your Largo Home

6/16/2021 (Permalink)

Woman holding buckets for leak When you have an unexpected water incident in your home, you can trust the skilled experts at SERVPRO to be there. We are always available to assist.

Damage to Your Condo from Water Can Be Prevented

When you are away for a while is not the time you want your home or condo to suffer from water damage. It is a surprise event that you do not expect upon your return. The damage can be devastating, and you need professional help to clean it up and repair your home, which is why you need to call the team at SERVPRO.

A few causes of Largo water damage include leaking supply lines, dripping water heaters, and ruptured washer hoses. Before you leave your Largo home for a short while or the season, there are steps you can take to prevent water damage from happening.

Shut Off the Main Water Valve

The simplest way to avoid water damage is to turn off the water at the main valve, which controls the water which enters your home. Make sure your entire family knows where it is located in case an emergency arises. If you have not ever shut off the main water valve before, be sure to test it by turning on a faucet before leaving.

Think About Your Appliances

If someone is taking care of your home or pets while you are gone or have automatic sprinklers, turn off the valves to any major appliances. Your ice maker, dishwasher, and washing machine all have shut-off valves or switches which can be turned off.

Remember your sinks and toilets. These fixtures have a valve underneath that is easy to shut off. These devices are where leaks occur quite frequently. Leaks can become floods. SERVPRO has plenty of experience cleaning up water damage from various water leaks, so if something does happen, be sure to have our staff help you do the cleanup and repairs.

Check Supply Lines

If any of your supply lines are plastic, you want to upgrade to stainless steel. Plastic lines easily break and can rupture while you are not at home. They are generally under twenty dollars to replace. Inspect them before you go on vacation or up North instead of waiting until the last minute. Take a flashlight and look at the kind of lines you have on your appliances.

Check Your Gutters

Look for debris, sticks, and leaves which could clog the gutters up and overflow or flood. Clean the gutters out to be safe, and make sure all the downspouts discharge around ten feet from your house. If they do not, you need to add an extension to the downspout. When it is raining, you could have hundreds of gallons of water flooding close to your home. If you live in a condo, make sure that the maintenance of your building also includes the above preventative steps to avert water damage.

Check for Automatic Shut-offs

Many plumbing devices on the market are high-tech and can sense and shut off leaks in your house. Check your local hardware store and online to find the newest gadgets which can save you during an emergency. There are even smart devices that can sense if you have gone out of town.

SERVPRO of Largo is the expert you need when you do have a water emergency while you are away. They can find the water source, fix the problem, and search for any mold, as it can grow and spread quickly once there is excess moisture present. Give us a call at (727) 586-0060 immediately if you return home from vacation to a water disaster of any kind.

Cracks and Discoloration Can Be a Sign of Water Damage. SERVPRO Helps Clearwater Residents Mitigate Loss and Restore their Homes

Clearwater is on the peninsula of a tri-city metropolitan area in Florida. The city of 107,685 residents shares a metro area with St. Petersburg and Tampa, both to the south-east of Clearwater. The metro area is colloquially known as the Tampa Bay Area. The place blends a rich local history on Cleveland Street with excellent surrounding nature. The waterway that runs through the downtown area is an Intracoastal link between the city and its stunning beaches. Clearwater is an essential destination for those with an interest or career, in marine life, with bottle-nose dolphins and whales frequenting the beaches and surrounding ocean.

Clearwater grew in stature in the early twentieth century with the establishment of the essential trading infrastructure. In 1914 a large bridge was built connecting the recently incorporated town to Clearwater Beach, which shores Mexico's Gulf. Throughout the Second World War, the city was a stopping over point for US military troops en route to mainland Europe. The city's hotels were repurposed as temporary military barracks during this period. The Pinellas County seat is located in Clearwater, while the region itself has been voted in the top ten of places to retire in America. The warm, subtropical climate ensures a steady flow of tourists to the area throughout the year.

  • Clearwater Beach is the main attraction of the area, thanks to the region's superb climate throughout the year. The white sands just off Causeway Boulevard expand for 2.5 miles while the site itself is a marine barrier, bordering both the Intracoastal Waterway and the Gulf of Mexico.
  • The harbor, marina, and Pier 60 extend onto the western coast featuring live music and performances throughout the year. The oceanside boulevard is also a popular nightlife destination with late-night bars and fresh seafood restaurants.
  • Regular dolphin and whale-watching tours set off from the marina. People can observe superb marine wildlife from Clearwater's aquarium and the numerous boat and helicopter tours across the shore. The Calypso Queen Tropical Party Buffet Cruise is among the most popular.

How Do I Choose a Company to Clean Up Water Damage?

9/3/2020 (Permalink)

insurance policy document SERVPRO Cleans Up and Restores Water Damaged Clearwater Properties--While Working within Insurance Guidelines

SERVPRO brings decades of experience and the latest in restoration techniques to local Clearwater properties in need

It seems the most inconvenient times are when hot water tanks fail, toilets back up, pipes burst, or that leak in the roof happens. When you need water cleanup in your Clearwater home, the key is to begin as soon as possible with the extraction and drying. Some of the key elements to look for when choosing a local restoration services company are:

  • Ask about water-restoration related certifications
  • Find out about the equipment that gets used
  • Will the company work with your insurance carrier?
  • Is there a policy to inhibit out-of-pocket charges by working within the scope of coverage?
  • Does the company have access to professional-grade cleaning agents, antimicrobials, and antibacterial solutions?

Can Water Damage Restoration Companies Do Repairs As Well As Cleanup?

When choosing among local water restoration companies in Clearwater, you already know the necessary information to ask about. Getting repairs done after the water removal and drying of the structure makes the whole process seamless. With their general contractor license #CBC1250662, SERVPRO technicians can handle any needed repairs or reconstruction to every part of your home. Commonly needed repairs the technicians provide include:

  • Replacement of sheetrock on walls and ceilings
  • Installation of tile
  • Refinishing or replacement of hardwood floorboards
  • Painting and other cosmetic services

The technicians work to save homeowners the cost of repairs and replacement whenever possible. The use of equipment such as an infrared camera to identify water location assists in assuring that no moisture gets left behind. Other sensitive moisture detectors and hygrometers help the techs measure the amounts of moisture saturation throughout the home. Once they pinpoint all the locations, they can use their powerful extraction equipment to remove the majority of the water. Even if the water in the home is several inches deep, they have the equipment to handle it.

Special Water Damage Situations

When the water contains sewage, chemicals, or other harmful elements, the techs have training and experience handling biohazard-level cleanup jobs. The job entails wearing protective gear, and most importantly, respiration equipment aspirating water vapor can prove harmful. There are different types of containment, such as simple barriers made from heavy gauge plastic sheeting or setting up negative air chambers, both methods work to inhibit the potential for cross-contamination.

Floodwater from heavy storms or hurricanes is part of living in this part of the state, and it is crucial to work with a restoration services company that has the experience of dealing with this type of damage. This type of water intrusion event frequently needs controlled demolition. Sheetrock deteriorates rapidly and sagging ceilings or buckling walls can present safety hazards and require removal. The techs remove only the damaged portion and leave the rest of the structure intact to limit the amount of rebuilding needed to restore the home.

Removing Mold from a Clearwater, Florida Property?

In short, it is impossible to remove naturally occurring airborne mold spores that are floating harmlessly both indoors and outdoors. However, when the conditions in your home become right in terms of a damp area with temperatures that sustain growth, you can have a spreading mold infestation in your home. Once mold establishes itself, it will not go away on its own and should have professional remediation to halt the process. The techs will also investigate and find out the reason for the mold growth and suggest remedies to stop the situation from continuing.

SERVPRO technicians have comprehensive training and certification to handle mold remediation #MRSR1163 in your home. They carefully contain the area to prevent any spread of the spores to other areas of the house and dry the existing colonies. Afterward, they remove the dry matter using manual methods or automated techniques such as soda or ice blasting to remove the dried mold without marring the surface it is on.

Once the structure gets dried and treated for any mold issues, the technicians focus their attention on any remaining residual water odors. The distinctive musty smell can get removed through the use of deodorizing cleaning agents, the use of gel pellets, or more robust methods such as thermal fogging or hydroxyl generators. The techs choose the appropriate method based on the level of scent control needed in the home.

SERVPRO of Largo at (727) 586-0060 is proud to serve the local area as one of the premier water restoration companies. Their trained, certified technicians are available 24/7 and arrive quickly on site. The techs work diligently to return your home to tiptop shape.

SERVPRO Has a Large Inventory of Water Removal Devices for Belleair Beach Water Losses

Water Cleanup In Belleair Beach Can Involve Using Stationary Tools

If you ever have an appliance malfunction inside your Belleair Beach home, the machine could spill several gallons of liquid H2O into your residence in a short time. The first step of water cleanup after you have an appliance break is to extract as much moisture as possible while it is still a liquid. Once your building materials and contents start to get saturated, and the humidity rises inside your house or condo, the moisture removal process gets more difficult.

During water cleanup in Belleair Beach, extraction can remove the majority of the liquid H2O if it takes place promptly. When conducting the initial extraction phase, our SERVPRO technicians can use a variety of equipment. For the power to suck up the moisture, we can implement either a heavy-duty truck-mounted extractor (rarely needed for a small spill from an appliance) or a portable unit. We can then attach several different tools to the extractor to get used on the various surfaces inside your home.

For example, when extracting from hard-surfaced floors, our SERVPRO crew can use a handheld extraction wand to soak up excessive moisture. Thick carpets, though, can require the use of specialized extraction tools. One type of tool that is often used during the extraction of high-fiber carpets is a stationary tool.

Stationary tools extract moisture from thick carpet and padding by using the weight of the operator. The SERVPRO technician stands upon the unit, and the carpeting gets compressed so that more moisture can get pulled up by the extractor's vacuum system. These units are available in different sizes. Smaller devices can be used in areas of your house that contain narrow strips of carpeting. The larger stationary extraction tools can pull water from a section of carpet up to 200 square inches in size.

The stationary tools can get used to extract wet carpet one section at a time. When using this type of extraction tool, the operator stands on the unit for ten to fifteen seconds at a time. The more time each section gets, the more liquid can get vacuumed up into the extraction waste tank. Then for room size areas, we can ride a Rover, like a lawnmower, only an extractor.

If one of your appliances ever malfunctions or leaks, call SERVPRO of Largo at (727) 586-0060 any day of the week. We're Faster To Any Size Disaster.

Stain and Water Cleanup in Indian Rocks Beach

It is lovely to have a condo on the beach with the ocean mere steps from your door, but the elements can be tough on both the inside and outside of your home. It is impossible to avoid bringing in sand, dirt, sunscreen residue, and moisture into your condo when you reside near the beach. It is considered a small price to pay for the luxury of being near the ocean. However, having a pipe burst within your kitchen can cause additional clean up on top of the daily routine.

Dealing with water cleanup in Indian Rocks Beach is unique because sand and debris brought in from the beach can add additional cleanup to your condo. In such a small space, water from the kitchen pipes may leak into your living room carpet. Water compounded with debris can create spots and stains in carpet and upholstery that require some extra attention on top of removing the water from the pipe bursting.

If you notice a stain after the pipe burst, you can spot and flush immediately using a mild detergent like SERVPRO's Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner for water-based soils and a dry solvent like Solvent Spotter for oil-based soils. However, you may be preoccupied with sopping up water and not notice the soiled spots on your carpet. Older stains may be more challenging to remove.

The first step in dealing with soil in your carpet is to determine what kind of soil is staining your carpet. Chances are at the beach, you are dealing with the insoluble soil of sand in your carpet. While using a portable extractor to remove the excess water from your carpet, technicians may notice some sand suctioning away with the water. However, any remaining sand can be dry vacuumed after the carpet is clean.

Water-soluble soils such as salt from the ocean may also be an issue and are best removed with a water-based product. Sunscreen, on the other hand, is an oil-soluble soil and consists of oily hydrocarbon components, which can be more challenging to remove. The best tactic is to use oil-based spotting products or use water-based alkaline products such as SERVPRO's StainZap to emulsify the soil for easy removal.

Removing water damage and stains from your home may require specific care and products, but SERVPRO (General Contractor #General: CBC1250662) aims to make it "Like it never even happened." Contact SERVPRO of Largo 24/7 at (727) 586-0060.

Submersible Pumps Are Standard for Indian Rocks Beach Water Loss

11/17/2019 (Permalink)

Two SERVPRO vehicles parked on a sidewalk. Pump the breaks on your Indian Rocks Beach water loss! SERVPRO will be there no matter what.

We have the materials it takes to save your Rocks Beach home from water.

In most water loss situations and flooding instances that could affect Indian Rocks Beach properties, the removal tool of choice is a submersible pump. While there are numerous options available to professional outfits like our SERVPRO team when initially clearing out standing water, the sump pump is a versatile piece of equipment capable of meeting the demands of damaged properties quickly and consistently.

To accomplish water removal in Indian Rocks Beach homes, our technicians must address the primary source of the damage and repair it. In many cases where water removal is necessary, plumbing fixtures or portions of pipe have separated or become severely compromised. With a full team of general contractors licensed through the state (#CBC1250662), we can help with repairs to the plumbing, and with carpet repair and drywall installation. With controlled demolition techniques, we can quickly reach and repair damaged plumbing to gain control of the water loss situation.

Standing water is a challenging obstacle for homeowners to overcome, and they often rely instead on the fast response of our SERVPRO team with our submersible pumps. These electric units are among the most heavily used in the water restoration industry, as they eliminate lift limitations. Smaller units like we might traditionally use for standing water in your household can reach up to 18,000 gallons per hour (GPH) with close to 70 feet of discharge head. These smaller units can work in confined spaces, and run on present electric outlets for continual quiet operation.

Discharging from sump pumps goes to the nearest available drain or water outlet leaving the house. Once this productive unit has brought water levels down to a manageable 2 inches in depth or less, we can deploy the combination of light wands, wet-vacs, and stationary deep extraction tools for carpet and pad water removal.

Restoring a water-damaged house is not as straightforward as it might appear and can require sophisticated tools and practices to accomplish. Our SERVPRO of Largo team can help however you need with reliable sump pumps. Give us a call today at (727) 586-0060.

Troubled Woman Looking At Leaking Sink Pipe In Kitchen We’re Faster to Any Size Disaster.

Leaking Cold Water Feed To Your Largo Fridge Can Cause Major Issues

One of our clients came home one day after a weekend vacation to find water all over her kitchen. The water had also flowed into the family room of the home. It appeared to be coming from the fridge area. Many high-end refrigerators have ice makers, cold water dispensers and water filters as features. These refrigerators require a water line installed to the back of the fridge to a solenoid which controls the water flow into the fridge. This line had sprung a significant leak at the junction to the solenoid. Water was spraying against the wall behind the fridge.

She called SERVPRO for help about the water damage from her Largo home. Our dispatcher advised the client to turn off the water line to the fridge. If she could not find the valve to shut the water off, she could also turn the valve off at the main water line coming into her home. He also suggested she mop up as much water as possible from the family room.

Our SERVPRO team quickly got to work and vacuumed up the water. The client, at our suggestion, turned on the air conditioning, which helped to dehumidify the home as well. Fortunately, she caught this leak early enough that there was no significant damage to the flooring. A portable dehumidifier was installed in the kitchen for several days to assist in removing moisture. Several large fans were also installed in the family room to assist in drying out the floor. A final check using moisture meters verified that the humidity level was down to a reasonable level, and the flooring sustained no long term damage.

The client was delighted and relieved to get her home back within a few days. She also hired a plumber to repair the leaking water line to the fridge and to install a readily accessible shut off valve for future access. She mentioned that she plans to shut the water off whenever she is away on vacation in the future as a further precaution.

Professional Extraction Equipment Lessens Loss to Water Damage in Largo Homes

Among insurance claims filed annually, water damage is the second most frequent after wind and hail damage to residential properties. The proper cleanup of water loss is vital to ensure mold is not an issue afterward.

When SERVPRO assists Largo homeowners with water damage cleanup, we pay special attention to this step of mitigation because the more time we spend pulling up moisture, the faster the drying phase of restoration goes. We have several types of equipment to choose from dependent on the scope and scale of the water removal needs, such as:

  • Portable pumps for fast extraction, especially useful in small spaces
  • Stand on wet vacs called Rovers that use the weight of the technician as part of the water expression process for thorough removal
  • Weighted extraction wands to force water out of carpeting or upholstery
  • Truck mounted pumps for fast, large-scale water extraction

Because of the propensity for water to migrate, we scope all parts of the room to locate it. For example, a supply line leak in a second-floor laundry room can result in water running behind baseboards, wicking into sheetrock and dripping into the floor joists and coming through the ceiling below. An event of this type requires that the flooring, ceiling, and wall cavities are thoroughly dried to inhibit the growth of mold in any of those areas.

Before drying, SERVPRO technicians set drying goals. These goals are unique to each job site and taken into consideration are the average humidity conditions in the home as well as ambient temperatures to ensure that there is no danger of harboring mold colonies after the water cleanup.

After drying, we hand-clean and disinfect affected surfaces and objects to leave the area without residual water odors. Our technicians hold certifications in mold remediation #MRSR1163 and we know how to create an inhospitable environment for mold growth, so it is not an issue the homeowner has to worry about from this water loss event.

SERVPRO of Largo is available 24/7 at (727) 586-0060 to handle any type of water damage in your home. Our local emergency response teams arrive soon after your call and work to make your water loss "Like it never even happened."

Protecting at-Risk Contents of Your Water-Damaged Largo Condo

Knowing the difference between which items are at risk and which items can stay where they are in your Largo home often comes down to which areas require water removal and which do not. Addressing the standing water is one of the greatest concerns for our SERVPRO professionals when we first arrive at your address. We have an array of extraction equipment that can remove water quickly from the exposed areas of your condo, allowing us to get to work on vital drying efforts shortly after that.

Protecting your belongings through substantial water loss incidents like this can seem challenging, but our rapid response team arrives with members of our contents department to isolate damaged items and possessions to get them to a safe place within the property or packed into our Green Fleet for transport to our nearby facility. It is always our intention to protect and preserve as much of the water damaged components or at-risk items on site rather than transporting them.

If we find that certain items require focused cleaning, deodorization, drying, or other restorative practices that we cannot perform at your condo, we can carefully move them to our SERVPRO warehouse for the attention these items need. Once they get cleaned and dried to the high standards of our contents department, they get stored in a climate controlled wing of our warehouse until the restoration has completed in the condo and these items can get returned to their original positions.

Why Team SERVPRO Can Always Help You in Largo After a Water Damage Debacle

3/31/2019 (Permalink)

When your condo has excess water, contact SERVPRO for effective water removal efforts. We can make your home look “like it never even happened.”

Protecting Materials in Your Largo Condo with Extraction

Condos like yours throughout Largo get constructed with premier construction materials to provide the most aesthetic appeal and alluring appearance for owners. This construction also makes a fast response to water loss incidents essential. Our professionals offer a 24/7 emergency response to water loss threats and other disasters that can affect your condo, arriving with our IICRC-certified technicians and stocked production trucks full of our industry-leading recovery and restoration equipment.

Many property owners mistakenly believe that they can manage Largo water extraction and drying efforts on their own with minimal equipment. These situations can quickly spread beyond the areas that you can see, affected subflooring, wall cavities, ceiling spaces, and other inaccessible areas of the condo. Not only does this scenario encourage secondary effects like mold growth, but it can also continually weaken and damage exposed construction materials, eventually requiring their removal and replacement.

From the time that our SERVPRO professionals arrive at your condo, we work quickly to establish the full scope of the damage that the property has sustained. This process begins with identifying the source of the water damage and repairing this concern if necessary. Moisture detection and thermal imagery play a role in determining inaccessible areas with water damage and dampness and noting the best locations for drying equipment to get installed to maximize their output.

Before we can effectively dry out the damaged condo, we have to address any standing water throughout the damaged rooms of the property. While we arrive with extractor trucks and trash pumps boasting up to 300 psi water removal power, often portable sump pumps and wet-vacs with extraction wands suffice for quickly removing any pooling water from the exposed portions of your condo.

With a fast response to these emergencies, our SERVPRO of Largo team can often preserve original construction materials. Too long battling moisture and dampness, and these same materials become too badly damaged to preserve or restore and must get removed and replaced to recover the property. Give our experienced team a call today at  (727) 586-0060.

Condo Water Removal Best Left To The Experts In Largo

Regardless of the cause of water incursion into your Largo condo, the answer to the problems presented is always the same -- call the experts in to remove the water. Getting rid of the water in a condominium complex can be challenging. It often involves water migration, and potential damage, from or to other units, posing complexities our professional team can help manage.

Heavy rains and hurricanes are what you might imagine when speaking of water removal in your Largo condo, but it is more likely that a plumbing or appliance malfunction is the source of unwanted and damaging water. Speed is essential when responding to a water crisis. We are Faster to any size disaster.

When SERVPRO arrives at your condo expect a swift analysis of the situation by an experienced crew leader. We travel with a comprehensive inventory of water removal and structural drying equipment in our green vehicles, so the crew gets immediately to work. Submersible pumps for expanses of water deeper than two inches reduce the water quickly, and truck-mounted extractors take care of the rest of the visible flooding.

SERVPRO technicians receive training in the likely movement of moisture from the original loss to other areas. We use sensitive meters to check the levels of moisture in the building materials, and thermal imaging to find larger pockets of water in hidden cavities. The potential of water movement level to level in a multi-story condo demands careful inspection to ensure that the damage does not spread.

We then set up a drying configuration with air movers and heaters, moving moisture from structural components into the air as vapor. SERVPRO uses evaporative and desiccant dehumidifiers to remove or absorb the airborne moisture for permanent removal.

If your water removal requirement traces to a water emergency in a nearby unit, we can help sort out responsibility, including working with your insurance company. SERVPRO also offers an Emergency Ready Plan and Profile to prepare for water or another disaster before it occurs. Investigating this option can be very comforting if you are a part-time resident of the area, permitting your designated agents to direct restoration efforts.

SERVPRO of Largo is an excellent resource for condo owners in our Tampa Bay area community. If water removal is suddenly on your agenda, call us at (727) 586-0060 to schedule an inspection.

Indian Rocks Beach Fast Water Removal Preserves Properties Says SERVPRO

SERVPRO's Equipment Paired with Skilled Technicians Restores Water Damaged Hardwoods in Indian Rocks Beach

Preserving Your Water-Damaged Indian Rocks Beach Kitchen

Appliances and leaking fixtures have damaged many Indian Rocks Beach kitchens over the years. Finding the right way to handle these situations efficiently often proves to be the difference between reconstruction and rebuilding or preservation of the materials altogether. With expensive materials installed in the flooring and backsplashes like high-grade tile, preserving the material is most often a priority to the homeowner, and why it is a focus of the work that we do.

To preserve quality materials like tile work and wood plank flooring in your water-damaged Indian Rocks Beach kitchen, our technicians must know about the situation as quickly as you do. Failure to secure services that can eliminate the moisture from saturated materials opens the door for distorting these materials and degrading them to the point of requiring tear out and replacement.

Our SERVPRO technicians can assess the situation starting from the moment that we arrive at your address. We have moisture detection and leak detection equipment available to our team to make short work of identifying the source of the problem and where our drying and extraction equipment should get placed to be the most effective for the work involved.

For materials like tile flooring, our drying mats can penetrate below these individual tiles provided that the grout joints are wide enough. Vacuuming is also an option for this type of material. Wood flooring such as planked tongue and groove material can benefit considerably from the use of drying mats when moisture has penetrated these connections and beyond. Our SERVPRO technicians have the tools to help you preserve the investment that you have made in areas of your kitchen from becoming irreparably damaged when we can get to them quickly with our equipment.

As a homeowner, protecting structural elements can often be as important as preserving the contents you have filled your home with over the years. Our SERVPRO of Largo water restoration technicians have the equipment and expertise to prevent unnecessary tear out and reconstruction, though we have licensed contractors available with our franchise to make this process fast as well should the need arise. Give us a call today at (727) 586-0060.

How We Help You Recover From A Water Damage Emergency In Indian Rocks Beach

10/5/2018 (Permalink)

Hazards such as water damage require an in-depth level of preparedness to stay protected against unnecessary damage or loss.

Extraction Is Key During Water Damage Restoration In Your Indian Rocks Beach Property

Hazards such as water damage require an in-depth level of preparedness to stay protected against unnecessary damage or loss. It explains why our country has set aside a National Preparedness Month - this September. Every person is advised to take every opportunity to come up with, practice, and uphold emergency plans which focus on what to do before, during, and after experiencing such disasters. Even when your family is ready to face such disasters, residents of Indian Rocks Beach should not forget the role that an experienced restoration provider plays during those stressing moments.

To remove moisture from your water Indian Rocks Beach property after a water damage incident, our SERVPRO technicians have to assess the situation at hand and select the most appropriate extraction equipment and procedures. For instance, if we have to clean your upholstery and carpets as well as remove water from the floors, then we have the option of using either portable or truck-mounted water extractors. Extractors have a vacuum system, pump, and a heater - components that enable them to perform several tasks during the restoration process.

The size and accessibility of the site help our SERVPRO technicians to decide on whether to use truck-mounted or portable extractors. We prefer using the portable option when restoring areas whose access is limited. On the other hand, a truck-mounted type is an option when we need to do restorative cleaning and water removal in larger areas. Its vacuum lift usually ranges from 185.71 -198.98 inches of water lift.

If the depth of the standing water exceeds 2 inches, our SERVPRO technicians can decide to use a submersible pump. We are careful not to use pumps when the water contains solid particles. At the end of the cleaning process, we follow the state and local regulations when disposing of the cleaning wastes. We never dispose such wastes into your home's septic system.

SERVPRO of Largo has the expertise and training to handle all cleaning and restoration needs after experiencing any water, fire, storm, or mold damage incident. Call us at (727) 586-0060, and our highly trained technicians can make your property “Like it never even happened.”

For every emergency, our SERVPRO Ready Plan App can aid our technicians during the planning stages. For example, it can assist them when deciding which extractor is best to use. Since there is a significant amount of water inside your home, the techs may opt to use the trunk-mounted extractor. It is a powerful device that can remove water quickly from structures. Water that stands for more than 48 hours can cause bacteria and mold growth, which is why a quick response to a water emergency is critical to success. This app lets our crew act promptly.

Removing moisture from the residence is also crucial during the restoration process. To ensure structural dryness, our team may use several devices. Air movers circulate air and replaces wet air with drier air. For effectiveness, crews strategically place them throughout the structure to increase the drying process. What Comes With Water Damage in Pinellas County Kitchens?

4/29/2018 (Permalink)

Whatever the cause of water damage in your kitchen, SERVPRO can shut off the source and dry out your property quickly to help prevent mold.

SERVPRO Technicians Dry Out Your Kitchen to Help Prevent a Mold Infestation

Because kitchen mishaps may be a regular, day-to-day occurrence, it can sometimes be difficult to tell when an accident can cause more significant water damage problems in your Pinellas County home. Kitchen areas are among the most common origins of light and moderate water damage, as many different appliances can malfunction and cause lasting damage to your home. While not every spill and puddle require an advanced restoration procedure to clean up, SERVPRO can help for the rare cases that take more than a mop and a rag to deal with.

Light Flooding
While flooding from an interior water source may be a rare form of water damage in Pinellas County, the fact that it can come from so many different sources keeps SERVPRO aware and ready to handle these situations. Sinks, washing machines, refrigerators, and other water lines can rupture and let loose tens to hundreds of gallons of water in your home before a professional arrives to handle the situation. When this happens, getting your home dried by professionals should be a top priority to eliminate risks of mold damage and further destruction of materials that come with less-efficient cleanup methods.

Leaks
Over time, leaks can cause extensive and costly damage to areas in and around your kitchen. Even a slow drip can feed a mold colony underneath a fridge or sink cabinet, and with so many water lines around, leaks are bound to happen at some point. Be sure to check in on water sources that are not in regular use for signs of damage and call us before more damage can happen.

Combined Disasters
Kitchens are uniquely at risk of developing other types of damage alongside the water-based problems. Flammable objects and electrical appliances can start fires with excess water in the area, and preexisting mold problems can recover and grow with more water in the environment. SERVPRO excels in handling the fallout from these incidents and can manage a complex project under one banner.

SERVPRO of Largo provides water damage mitigation and restoration services for homes across the local area. Contact us as soon as you identify the first signs of damage at (727) 586-0060.

How Do Professionals Remove Water from Your Largo Property After Flooding?

3/11/2018 (Permalink)

Water damage can happen very quickly and often without any warning. Contact SERVPRO right away after damage for best results.

SERVPRO Technicians Arrive Equipped to Dry Out Your Water Damaged Property

Water removal is one of the most crucial steps in successful restoration after a flooding incident. Both standing water and the residual moisture needs to be removed quickly and efficiently. Professionals have a host of equipment to accomplish this job.

When SERVPRO professionals arrive for water removal on your Largo property, they bring with them some of the best equipment. Here are some of the equipment that you should expect to see during the restoration process.

Extractor
This equipment is used to pump out the stagnant water from your property. They can be hand-held or truck mounted depending on the amount of water to be removed. Extractors are one of the first equipment to arrive on site.

Dehumidifier
Once the extractors remove the standing water from the property, the next challenge that SERVPRO technicians square off against is the residual moisture. Dehumidifiers are the equipment that gets this job done. They extract water vapor from the air speeding up the drying process.

SERVPRO technicians can use any of the two types of dehumidifying equipment- Refrigerant and Desiccant Dehumidifiers. While the refrigerant dehumidifiers work on the same principle as an air conditioner unit, the desiccant one use special chemicals that absorb moisture from the air.

Air Mover
Dehumidifiers alone can not eliminate the residual moisture. Air movers are used to circulate the air and replace wet air with drier air. Strategic placement of dehumidifiers and air movers ensures a complete and rapid drying process.
If the residual moisture is not eliminated promptly, it can lead to secondary issues including mold growth. Seek professional help to eliminate water as soon as possible after a flooding incident. Both the standing water as well as residual moisture removal is crucial for a successful restoration process.

You can trust SERVPRO of Largo during the time of your need. Call us at (727) 586-0060 today for a free consultation. Remember, We’re Faster to Any Size Disaster!

Water Damage in Your Largo Home from a Roof Leak

2/8/2018 (Permalink)

It is important to regularly have your roof inspected to prevent severe damage from an unnoticed leak.

Rely on SERVPRO Professionals for Thorough Water Damage Remediation

A roof which is leaking can create severe damage to your home in Largo. Even though a well-constructed roof can hold up for decades or even longer, it is recommended that your roof is inspected every few years. If you do not do this, you could wind up with long-term damage from a leaky roof which goes unnoticed, leading to further deterioration of your property. You could be dealing with various forms of damage such as mold and mildew growth or drywall fatigue.

As soon as you notice a leak in your Largo home’s roof, you need to take care of the problem right away. Water damage like this can quickly escalate and create additional damages. SERVPRO is always standing by when you need us, so do not hesitate to contact us when you have an issue. We are specially trained and experienced in all types of water damage.

After arriving at your home and inspecting the damage, we remove any standing water if necessary with industrial pumps. Once this is done, dehumidification and drying begin. It is essential to perform this step to get rid of any moisture that remains after water removal. Air-movers, dehumidifiers, and fans can be used, and we monitor these machines daily to ensure the drying time is optimal.

If any personal belongings were affected by water, SERVPRO techs clean and sanitize these for you. Air scrubbers can also be used to remove moisture and particles from the air when needed.

The last big step is restoration, which involves replacing materials such as insulation and drywall. This process sometimes is as simple as installing a few panels of drywall, but in severe cases, it could require replacing an entire wall.

If your roof leak went unnoticed for an extended period, the restoration process could take longer, as more damage such as mold growth has taken place. We can, however, take care of this for you as well, ensuring that your home is safe and dry again before we leave.

SERVPRO of Largo takes pride in being thorough in the restoration of your home in Bellair, Largo, or Indian Rocks Beach after any water damage. Just reach out to us at (727) 586-0060 when you realize there is an issue so we can help you out as fast as possible.

Water Damage from Indian Rocks Beach Home Aquariums

12/5/2017 (Permalink)

It is important to regularly maintain your home aquarium to prevent leaks and water damage to your home.

SERVPRO Offers Quick Response Restoration Services for Any Size Disaster

Aquariums are a great way to see exotic fish indigenous to Indian Rocks Beach in your home every day. The fact that they are full of water though should leave you with an understanding that an underlying structural weakness could result in this aquarium losing its contents onto your floor. While you might be devastated to lose your pet fish in such a startling fashion, you might also be alarmed at the damage that this volume of water can do to your flooring.

While you might not always correlate an aquarium with impending water damage for your Indian Rocks Beach house, it is indeed something that you should keep in the back of your mind. Simple preventative maintenance and inspections can prevent catastrophes like an entire tank breaking apart and losing its contents onto the floor. If a water emergency like this occurs (as such accidents do), here is what you can come to expect from our SERVPRO water damage restoration technicians.

First, our SERVPRO team enters your home to see the affected area and begins to assess any damages. The assessment is the foundation for the entire restoration plan, understanding how far spread and involved these issues appear to be. Water removal is where the restoration process begins, as this poses the most immediate threat for continued damages. Getting rid of this water is typically accomplished by using small portable pumps and wet vacuums, though more massive pumps might get used if the aquarium was large enough.

Drying the floor is going to be the step that follows, and the process happens through the use of heating fans. Similar to hair dryers, these fans generate a direct output of heated air onto a specific area of the floor. Moving these fans from one point to another as each spot becomes completely dry eliminates all of the lingering moisture in a short period.

Damage to your flooring is then fully assessed, which might require removal and demolition to make way for new material. Demolition or reconstruction depends significantly on the extent of the water damage and your input into what has to happen for the restoration to be complete.

While aquariums are a great addition to your home, they are not unbreakable or unable to fail and fall apart over time. If you are amid an emergency which requires water damage restoration efforts like these, do not hesitate to call our SERVPRO of Largo emergency response crew today. We can be reached 24/7 at (727) 586-0060.
